By volunteering with The Pump House Project, you’ll be directly contributing to programs and services that support individuals and families in our community. Whether it’s leading a workshop, assisting with events, or offering a listening ear, every role matters.

Volunteers help to deliver a variety of different events and activities at The Pump House Project from planning and preparation to setting up and running activities on the day. It’s about offering something memorable for visitors, a warm welcome making them feel comfortable, safe and at ease and encouraging them to return and tell their friends about us.
What this role involves?
- Volunteering for an event, activity, fete, café, private party or fundraiser.
- This could involve setting up and serving drinks at the bar, making tea and coffee, handling food and will always include cleaning up and packing away at the end.
- Supporting staff with the pre-preparation for large events such as craft activities, information sheets, signage, displays and activities,
- On the day support such as moving equipment from one site to another, moving/setting out tables and chairs, erecting gazebos and banners, running stalls, cash handling and chatting with the public.
- Providing a warm, friendly welcome to all visitors as the public face of The Pump House Project.
- Answering any questions and signposting as necessary
- Encouraging people to get involved in the events/activities
- No two days are the same at The Pump House Project! We have a strong constitution and pull together to help the local community. We have an exciting time ahead of us with growth and change – all for the better – and need compassionate and invested individuals to work with us to achieve this.
General Task:
- To operate within all relevant policies and guidelines, including health and safety, equal opportunities, confidentiality and financial procedures and regulations
Main Task:
- Complete duties as assigned
- Report issues to the volunteer coordinator and the Manager
- Follow safety regulations
- Work well with other volunteers
- Attend meetings as and when required
Skills:
- Possess organisational skills
- Creative thinking – open to new and innovative ideas
- Ability to work within professional boundaries
- Be able to work independently as well as part of a team
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to network and build strong working relationships
- Flexible approach as attendance at evenings and weekends may be required (for will be given).
- IT Skills with access to a computer and internet would be useful but not essential
- Physical fitness may be required for certain tasks – this will be explained
